Food For Thought: Find Your Green Thumb

@BFPLNY Instagram Live

The year 2020 was like no other, and we found ourselves pressing pause, pivoting, disconnecting, and disengaging. Moving forward in 2021, we are coming up for air and figuring out how we press play on our lives.

This year’s Food for Thought digital series will focus on topics in pursuit of three goals – to restart, revive, and reconnect. Join the conversation on May 20 at 12:30PM ET on @BFPLNY’s Instagram Live, when houseplant enthusiast and plant therapy advocate Veronica Moore (@brownskinplantmama) and plant influencer Vlad Nikolic ( @nikolicvladan), help you develop your green thumb with tips and advice on:

  • The best way to care for your houseplants, allowing them to thrive.
  • Which plants might be the best match for you.
  • How to incorporate green into your interior decor.
  • The benefits of having plants around and the healing power of plants.
  • And more!

Submit a question anonymously for speakers ahead of time.

Similar to last year, the Food for Thought series features influential voices from various fields and the public is invited to directly engage in the conversation by submitting a question anonymously in advance of the event.

The event will take place on @BFPLNY’s Instagram Live, as part of #BFPLatHome digital programming.

Veronica Moore is a houseplant enthusiast that found healing in plants due to the sudden loss of her sister in February of 2018. A native of Chicago, IL she grew up  around houseplants and helping her mother tend to their garden. Because of this Veronica feels it’s her birthright to be a Black grower of food and plants for mental spiritual and emotional well-being. Being a natural covener of people, she found and built a community on Instagram in April of 2020 that has since grown to over 11K followers.  Through this platform, Veronica encourages others to explore the benefits of plant therapy. She hosts events and workshops around plant therapy and also created a program called Plant Therapy for Kids, a soon to be non-profit that teaches children applicable life skills through gardening and plant care.  A mother, wife, entrepreneur and community advocate, you can find Veronica spending her free time traveling with family, working on community awareness campaigns and running their mobile food truck business, the Taste Smokers.

Vlad Nikolic is a plant influencer based in Washington, D.C. After owning a carnivorous plant business in Europe, Vlad (Mr. Houseplant) moved to Washington DC to continue pursuing his passion for plants, by teaching houseplant care through fun and easy videos.
