THE WINTER GARDEN

With striking views of the Hudson River and the North Cove Marina, the soaring glass atrium known as the Winter Garden is host to hundreds of cultural events each year and the center for all dining, shopping and people watching at Brookfield Place.

Substantially rebuilt in 2002, its reconstruction required 2,000 panes of glass and 60,000 square feet of marble flooring and stairs. Its most dramatic features include sixteen 40-foot tall Washingtonia robusta palm trees. The trees grow about six inches per year in the atrium and are capable of reaching heights of over 80 feet.

The Winter Garden is visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and has emerged as a true community space. The atrium was transformed into a beer garden for Best Brews of New York, and in addition to hosting numerous concerts, symphonies and ballets, it has inaugurated a new holiday tradition for the city with Luminaries, a mesmerizing interactive lighting display.

There’s always something happening at the Winter Garden. Be sure to stop by for a visit the next time you’re in the neighborhood!
