Enjoy Art and Music on Thursday Nights

Join us for live music by cutting edge First Nations and Native American artists from Canada and the U.S. Thursdays from 7–8:30pm on the Waterfront Terrace. Then stop by the Winter Garden to view Tepkik, a suspended installation by Jordan Bennett intersecting the artist’s Mi’kmaq ancestral and contemporary tradtions. Free and open to the public!

July 11: Martha Redbone Roots Project

Martha Redbone (pictured above) is a multi award-winning musician and one of today’s most vital voices in American Roots Music. With the power of her gospel singing African-American father’s voice and the determined spirit of her Cherokee/Shawnee/Choctaw mother, Redbone broadens all boundaries of Americana.

 

July 25: DJ Shub

Considered to be the Godfather of PowWowStep, DJ-producer Shub continues to pioneer a growing genre of electronic music. Shub is Mohawk of the Six Nations reserve located in Ontario, Canada, and began his career with nationally-acclaimed electronic music trio A Tribe Called Red.

Presented in partnership with the Consulate General of Canada in NY. 

 

August 15: Supaman 

As a member of the “Apsaalooke Nation”, Supaman makes his home on the Crow reservation in Montana. “Supaman” is Christian Takes Gun Parrish, a Native American dancer and innovative hip hop artist who has dedicated his life to empowering and spreading a message of hope, pride and resilience through his original art form.
